Landscape I and II are inspired by websites devoted to car crash photos of luxury, high performance vehicles. For me, these sites represent the ambivalence that surrounds these automobiles. They are admired for their superb engineering and beautiful styling but are resented for being a status symbol and elitist. The extreme distortion creates a surreal transformation of the subject. This alteration invites other metaphoric interpretations.
