The triptych String Theory is titled after the contemporary theory in physics. A recent explanation that describes the fundamental structure of our universe. This piece attempts to create a dialogue about the basic existential issue of individual autonomy. For me, the varied transformations of the figure imply both chance occurrence and conscious reinvention. The subject of the painting is a photograph I took of someone walking on the beach. Random and anonymous, this is a portrait of that individual.
