Ancient sculptures, in my opinion, have always been a symbol of our own mortality. It is ironic that these busts that were created to extend the shelf life of their subjects; created out of very durable materials such as marble and bronze, are in such extreme states of decay. Scratched into the textured surface of “Bronzo” is the molecular formula for the oxidation of bronze. In the case of “e la legge” a quote is scratched into the surface that reads, “When the game is over the king and pawn go in the same box”.
